A little rant from my friend

In a recent email, my friend (known here as Hienuri Kayleuetski) was complaining about how stuffed up our government has been of late.
"...in Australia, Julia Gillard backstabbs Krudd, thus delaying MasterChef via the Late News, making GIANT headlines all around the country and making a million (well, actually, probably more than a million!) people swear to vote for the Greens. Also, she manages to almost delay THE FINALS of MasterChef in the Leaders' Debate. But MasterChef then has to be delegated because the people of Australia demanded it. She takes her revenge by putting fifty billion "Moving Forward" ads in the ad breaks of MasterChef. Abbott (is it one T or two?) decides to join in by putting in HIS "Support Real Action" ads so that all you see in the ad breaks are politicians convincing you to either vote for them, or not vote for the other major party, or a mixture of both, thus making people want to support Greens even more and thus leading to our first Greens MP. Turmoil in Parliament House- everyone who still hasn't sworn to vote by Greens can't decide who else to vote for, so it's almost a hung parliament, thus making lots of people angry because they can't be bothered going back to the voting booths.

Congrats, Gillard. (Can you please get rid of NAPLAN now?)

You know, every time the screen says "Julia Gillard- Prime Minister" on the news I just think, "Well, of COURSE she's the Prime Minister, I think everyone knows that by the way she became Prime Minister!""

Well, I was attempting to argue my point that Australian politics is nowhere near as convoluted as American politics (I mean, look at all the assassinations and shootings and attempted murders of politicians!), but it's kinda hard to argue with that.
Gosh.

NAPLAN and trees

The problem with NAPLAN is that not only do the normal test papers distributed during regular test time consume trees, the test prep does as well.

My neighbour, who is a primary school teacher, said that at their school, every kid from years 2-7 are going to sit last year's NAPLAN test. Soon an email was sent out: people are using up too much paper!

She sent an email back with the following message:

"300 students x 2 booklets for each (she missed out the reading comprehension one) x approx 10 pages for each booklet. Hmm. Wonder where the paper's going.

"Love, Mrs B."

The very first post.

Hmmm... Now, how to you invite someone to be a co-author?

Never mind.

Anyway, things to be discussed on this blog:
-Rambling, essay-worthy rants about the government (mainly Australian, but there may be some randoms in other countries that have problems with their government).
-More rambling
-Some possible discussions on what we could do to fix our government (includes things like what laws we would change/scrap/introduce, what we would do if we were the PM, etc.)
-ummm... Anything negative about Politics, really.

I'm studying Politics in school this semester. Things are kinda stuffed up in Egypt.
Personally, I support democracy, but really, a vote just isn't gonna cut it in the mess they've got going on over there. Someone needs to suicide-bomb Mubarak, and all those other randoms that are causing trouble, and just start afresh.

Replies are welcome, and encouraged.
